May Pole Candles

May pole Pictures, Images and Photos

{This sounds like a nice & easy decorative idea to do for Beltane (May Day). I've also done something similar but without a candle. I used a small wooden dowel and tied lots of different colored ribbons and put it on my altar.}

May Pole Candles

You will need:
Lots of pretty ribbons
Tall white or green pillar candle
Gold or brass "Craft Bells"
Candle holder (stand)

Cut lengths of ribbon around 18 inches each, in pretty Springtime colors.(pastels)
Tie a craft bell to each end of ribbon (a tooth pick helps this process) Tie ribbons starting
at 3/4 way down the pillar candle, knot three times, don't tie bows, you need lots of length
on the ribbons. Tie as many as you like snaking your way up the candle, but leave at least
1/4 candle bare. Place in a candle stand that will raise the candle about 6 - 8 inches, so the
ribbons can "drape" Swirl the bundle of ribbons so they face East, ready to greet the dawn on
Beltane morn. Light candle and cheer the Spring time blessings to come. Keep a "safe" eye on
candle & ribbons. ~ Barbara Morris Source: ADailyTarot

3 pounds frying chicken cut up
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
3 cups shortening or oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup chicken stock
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning

Combine milk and egg in medium bowl. Combine flour,
garlic salt, paprika, pepper and poultry seasoning
in paper or plastic bag. Add a few pieces of
chicken at a time, and shake to coat. Dip chicken
in milk-egg mixture, then shake a second time in
flour mixture. Reserve remainder of the flour. Heat
1/2 to 1 inch of shortening or oil to 365 degrees
in electric skillet or on medium-high in a large
heavy skillet. Brown chicken on all sides. Reduce
heat to medium low or 275 degrees. Continue cooking
until chicken is tender, about 5 to 10 minutes.
Turn chicken several times during cooking, and
drain on paper towels in a single layer.

To make the gravy, pour all but 2 tablespoons of
the fat from the skillet. Stir in 2 tablespoons of
the reserved seasoned flour, and stir constantly
over low heat for 2 minutes. Whisk in the chicken
stock, stirring to scrape up the brown bits on the
bottom of the pan. Then stir in the milk and bring
to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
Reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve immediately, passing the gravy separately.

YIELD: 4 servings

Spell For Employment

Begin on Sunday.

Light a Gold or Yellow colored candle
and speak the following spell:

"A Good Job Awaits me I Know
For Thine Brilliant Light Scans
and searches A Place for Me
A Good Job Awaits Me
For Thine Goodness is Great
My Faith in Thee is Complete
A Good Job waits for Me."

Speak this spell three times.
Perform ritual every day until
employment is found.

*Instead of "good job," maybe it would help
to personalize it and change the words to
"record deal," or something else that appeals
to you.

My Etsy Shop - Mystic Star Designs

My Etsy Shop - Mystic Star Designs

Well I did it...I set up an Etsy shop for my designs/creations. I've been wanting to do this for a while but finally today decided okay I'm gonna do it. So I did - just listed one item for now, took me a bit to set it all up (the store) and learning what to do in there.

It will all be a learning experience. I'm hoping to share with the world my hand crafted items. My shop will be featuring jewelry I make along with home decor all with a dark Mystical theme to them. I will try to translate what inspires me thru my designs.

If you'd like to take a peek at my shop... Mystic Star Designs it's still a work in progress as the listings are not up yet, only 1 item for sale but will add more as time permits.

This shop really is for my creative outlet. When not doing the Etsy shop I'm doing my regular job which is running an online boutique Mystic Rock Boutique.

I will be quite busy but it will be something I've wanted to try out :)

Sugar Snap Peas

Sugar Snap Peas

Do you love sugar snap peas? I absolutely love them fresh. I especially love eating them raw, just wash them and pop them in your mouth mmmm sweet and crunchy! They're also great in salads or as a side vegie with dinner. Even if you don't grow some in your garden you can pick some at your local grocery store and still enjoy this vegie. Here are some tips I found useful.

Select bright green, flat, tender pods. Avoid pods with decay.
If peas are developed, use as for green peas. How much to buy?
A pound of snap peas equals about 15 pods or 1 cup. Store
sugar snap peas in vegetable crisper up to 1-3 days.

Sugar snap peas have strings that must be removed before eating.
To do this, pinch the very tip of the pea, getting hold of the
string. Pull the string up the straightest side toward the stem
end; pinch off the stem end and continue pulling the string until
there is no more. Eat them whole or eat pods and peas separately.

Uncooked Sugar Snap Peas make scrumptious additions to any dish.
Just snap them like green beans, or slice them lengthwise or in
chunks for salads. Use whole as dippers or fill the crisp pods
as you would fill celery sticks.

Sugar Snap Peas require very little cooking (just 2 minutes at a
simmer is enough) whether in the fresh or frozen state. If
overcooked the pods soften and the flavor is destroyed.

Dreaming In The Garden

Dreams can be merely entertaining
or intense and prophetic.
Many natural aids to dreaming can
be found in the garden!

If you want peaceful dreams that
are relaxing, place a vase of jasmine
by your bed.

If you are having nightmares and wish
them stopped, place morning glories
in the vase instead.

If you need to learn something in a
dream, place a bay leaf under your
pillow and ask for the knowledge.

If you just want nice dreams, use a
sachet of lavender.

If you want to send a psychic dream
to a loved one, blow the seeds off the
top of a dandelion in his or her
direction and project your wish, then
go right to sleep.

If you want your dreams to come true,
you can do one of two spells.

At midnight on a Friday, in silence,
gather nine small non spiny holly
leaves and wrap them in a cloth.
Place them under your pillow, make
your wish, and go to sleep. Your dreams
will come true.

Another ancient spell is to scatter
marigold flowers under your bed, make
your wish, and then say:

"Wish I want and wish I may
Come to me through dream so fair
Come by night and come by day
Come, thou wish, and ride thee here"

Spring Fragrance Fever

Spring Fragrance Fever: Fresh Suggestions for Your Tried-and-True Scents

I love fragrances and trying NEW ones is always fun whether it be spray cologne, perfume, bath & body products, or candles :) Take a look at these new ones. Another thing I love is the bottles and packaging on fragrances. The Jean Paul Gaultier 'Classique' bottle is cool - it being a female's body with a corset type lingerie and in blush pink with black looks sexy!! You can only imagine what the scent will be like. Orchid & Vanilla and priced at 100 bucks, OUCH...but it's a designer fragrance.

Tarot The Simple Spread

The Simple Spread

___ ___ ___
|_1_| |_2_| |_3_|

The simplest possible Tarot spread is the drawing and
interpreting of a single card. The simple spread above
goes a little further by employing three cards, and the
meaning of each card is modified according to the
position it occupies in the spread. To prepare the
reading, three cards are selected and dealt in the
order shown. They are then interpreted in turn as

1. The Past Events or influences from the past that
have affected the present but are now passing away

2. The Present The important events, issues, attitudes
or influences around the question or current situation

3. The Future Future events and fresh influences about
to come into play that will operate in the near future

If a specific question has been asked, then each
position is interpreted in a manner relevant to the
question. Of course, the spread may be varied in any
way the reader sees fit, with greater or fewer cards,
or different attributions to the three positions. The
important thing is that the form and meaning of the
spread are known in advance. For example, the simple
spread could be interpreted as follows if this suited
the reader's purposes and preferences better:

1. The Present The important event, issue, attitude
or influence around the question or current situation

2. Obstacles Current obstacles, problems, conflicts
and opposition that the questioner must deal with

3. The Outcome The eventual outcome of events shown
by the other cards

Prepare for psychic dreams tonight! Make a dream pillow by mixing some or all of the following herbs to make a cupful: (the first two are required) mugwort, lavender, rose petals, catnip, chamomile, jasmine, orange blossoms, and buckwheat hulls. Sew them up in a small rectangle of Moon-and-star printed cloth. Stuff the dream pillow into your pillowcase with your usual pillow. Before sleep, tell yourself that you will remember your dreams.
