Good Luck Penny Day

Good Luck Penny Day

Today is 'Lucky Penny Day'...Since most people don't turn in pennies all that much, all of us have jars and cans full of pennies. If we take them to the bank we can see just how much money we have just laying around, but remember save a few pennies for good luck :)

Let's take a look at some of the legends and mythology surrounding the penny. First comes the advice that you should always carry a penny with you for luck. Some say that tossing a penny overboard will guarantee safe sea passage while others believe that keeping a jar of pennies in the kitchen (the room of abundance, according to Feng Shui) will not only bring good luck but big money into the home. If you're giving a gift of a wallet or purse you should always put a penny inside of it for extra luck. It's long been believed that placing a penny in a baby's crib or carriage will cause the baby to grow up to be healthy, wealthy and wise. Coins with holes in them are considered especially lucky. Throwing one cent over your left shoulder into a wishing well or a body of water while making a wish will make that wish come true. Putting the first penny you receive each day into your pocket will attract an increase in cash, while finding a heads up penny means more money will soon come your way. If you find a tails up penny, throw it over your shoulder and never look back. And then make a wish. Giving it to someone else will bring you both good luck! For my money, if you place 49 pennies along with nine one dollar bills on a red background with a red frame in your Wealth area, you should begin to see many more pennies and dollars in your bank account before long.

Furture in Mirror Divination

Magic Mirror Divination

To see the future for good or ill, take a mirror
outside. Let the light of the Moon fall on its surface
and gaze into it. Any face appearing will be connected
to your future.

Incantation:

Magick mirror in the night show me what I need to know by moon's light
By the power of the cosmos, The Goddess & the pentagram I wear, magick mirror show me what I need to be aware. So mote it be.

Alternatively you can do this divination spell indoors with a crystal ball. Light a candle, burn incense (sage is good), sit still, quietly let your eyes gaze into the crystal ball and chant the incantation. You might not see anything, but you might hear or just sense something, be alert to anything while meditating with your crystal ball.

Sea Salt Protection Spell

A couple of nights ago I was by the ocean - the moon a crescent shape, misty clouds in the sky with some stars shining. The air was cool, I could hear the roar of the ocean and gazed upon it in the darkness. You see the white foam rolling licking the seashore. I felt a sense of one with the universe at that moment looking at the ocean, then up at the starry sky.

I feel it is very good for the soul to go out in nature, quietly just get intune to nature, especially the sea, it's very cleansing indeed just being near it.

I found this spell where you use sea salt in a bath & thought I'd share it.

Sea Salt Protection Spell

People over the world agree that salt has cleansing, restorative, and curative powers. In order to rid yourself of negativity, you can't go wrong using sea salt. Sea salt holds many of the essential healing properties of nature. To increase strength, luck, and fortitude, go to your grocer or health-food store and buy sea salt. Spread the salt on the areas you wish cleansed. Lightly sprinkle sea salt into your bath, saying:

Salt of ocean,
Salt of earth,
From ocean I sprang, upon my birth.
With Venus I rose above sea and shell,
The power of salt makes everything well.

So mote it be.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake For Mom

A nice treat for Mom on Mother's Day... just add some whipped cream & you're good to go!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

1/4 cup butter or margarine

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

9 slices pineapple in juice (from 14-oz can), drained

9 maraschino cherries without stems, if desired

1 1/3 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup shortening

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk

1 egg

1. Heat oven to 350°F. In 9-inch square pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over melted butter. Arrange pineapple slices over brown sugar. Place cherry in center of each pineapple slice.
2. In medium bowl, beat remaining ingredients with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter over pineapple and cherries.
3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately place heatproof serving plate upside down over pan; turn plate and pan over. Leave pan over cake a few minutes so brown sugar mixture can drizzle over cake; remove pan. Serve warm. Store cake loosely covered.

Makes 9 servings

May Pole Candles

May Pole Candles

You will need:
Lots of pretty ribbons
Tall white or green pillar candle
Gold or brass "Craft Bells"
Candle holder (stand)

Cut lengths of ribbon around 18 inches each, in pretty Springtime colors.(pastels)
Tie a craft bell to each end of ribbon (a tooth pick helps this process) Tie ribbons starting
at 3/4 way down the pillar candle, knot three times, don't tie bows, you need lots of length
on the ribbons. Tie as many as you like snaking your way up the candle, but leave at least
1/4 candle bare. Place in a candle stand that will raise the candle about 6 - 8 inches, so the
ribbons can "drape" Swirl the bundle of ribbons so they face East, ready to greet the dawn on
Beltane morn. Light candle and cheer the Spring time blessings to come. Keep a "safe" eye on candle & ribbons. ~ Barbara Morris
