Jasmine Aphrodisiac

Jasmine Aphrodisiac

Did you know that besides Lavender, Jasmine is the next scent that attracts the opposite sex. Yes guys seem to like these scents. Also among the favorites are Vanilla and Cinnamon and you thought Rose would be up there. I would have to say men also love Musk as well.

Here's a little love potion you can brew up with Jasmine.

Blend a few drops of Jasmine essential oil with a carrier oil. Jasmine blends well with rose, sandalwood, orange, ylang ylang. Of course at my boutique you can get Love Potion #9 and other perfume body oils if you would rather just purchase something ready made!

Dream Journal

Paisley Dream Journal

Do you keep a dream journal? Do you like to interpret your dreams? I don't write down every dream I have, only some that I might want to figure out what they're trying to tell me. Here's some tips on keeping a dream journal. Here's a lovely tree of life celtic design journal that you can use for your dream journal or a diary. Here is another one you might want to use for your dream journal or for a book of shadows.

Dream Journal

Winter is a time of rest and reflection. In keeping with
these quiet rhythms, begin the practice of recording your
dreams in a dream journal. If you've never had luck
remembering your dreams, don't despair, these tips will
improve your dream memory. It's important upon awakening
to immediately record the dream and the emotion you felt
upon awakening. Designate a notebook for this practice.
It also helps to say a prayer or an affirmation, such as,

"I will remember my dream upon awakening
and I will record it."

The last tip is to date the journal before you fall asleep.
This signals your brain that you expect a dream that night.
As a separate practice, journal your thoughts during daylight
hours as to what your dreams might signify. Remember to trust
yourself to know what your dreams symbolize. Sweet dreams!

Garnet Sweetheart Dangle Earrings by Vamp

Red Garnet Sweetheart Dangle Hearts Earrings

I just finished designing a pair of beautiful garnet heart gemstone dangle earrings and they're available at my ArtFire studio. Take a look and grab these now! They make a beautiful gift for any January birthday and of course Valentine's Day since they are a deep rich wine shade of red and in the shape of little hearts, what a sweet & romantic way to say I love you or I think you are special :)

Garnet January Birthstone Info:

According to ancient legend, anyone who wears the stone that correlates with the month of their birth so that it touches their skin will elicit an entire host of magical boons and bright, big blessings. So if you or anyone you know is celebrating a birthday in January, you should also know that the special gem garnet promises big fortune and lots of luck. In fact, the garnet promises to bring anyone who wears it much more than just those two aforementioned blessings. Long considered a regenerative and healing stone, the garnet is said to also bring increased strength and stamina. It's also believed to be super supportive if you're looking to take some time for yourself, as it aids all restorative efforts at going within in order to stay balanced and in harmony without. Wearing it can also clear your mind of winsome worry while initiating states of complete clarity and compassion. The garnet might also have the ability to dissolve feelings of isolation and alienation and replace them with opportunities to have intimate encounters that inspire, influence and motivate. A true jewel, the garnet is a stabilizing old stone that is strong and sincere. Celebrate the garnet this month!

Seguro Magic Bottle

How to make a Seguro magic bottle

I came upon this and is a nice way to dress up your alter besides it being a magical bottle.

According to South American shamans, a seguro is a friend you can turn to when you need advice and who will share your problems. But you'll never have to buy them a drink or a even a birthday gift, because a seguro is actually a clear glass bottle that contains perfume, sacred water and a selection of plants chosen for their healing or magical qualities.

These bottles are then kept in a 'sacred' space and are held in high esteem as objects that transmit great power. Any time you have a problem simply hold it against your heart and speak to it as you would a treasured friend. The premise here is that the seguro will absorb the energy of the worry or concern and then help to transform those energies into active solutions. According to those same shamans, this plant ally that will offer healing and support to the natural world with all its power and potential.

To create your Seguro magic bottle you'll need a glass bottle about five inches high with a sealable lid or any bottle that you think will fit your contents. Fill this bottle one third full with your favorite perfume and top that off with some sort of 'sacred' water, such as traditional holy water or water from a spiritual spot. Mineral, spring or rainwater can be used as well. Once you've built this base think of the qualities that you would like in your life and of the plants that might bring them to you. Bamboo or jade bring healing to your money agendas while heather brings luck. Goldenrod can also be used for wealth while mums bring fortune and roses bring love. Add whatever plants resonate with you and arrange them attractively. Before sealing the bottle be sure to blow your intentions into it three times. Place your bottle where you can consult with it often and then see how quickly the two of you become inseparable. Your life will change for the positive once seguro has your back. Your friendship with this ally will grow and you'll have a life long companion.

Imbolc - Candlemas

Ahh yes nearing Imbolc or candlemas, when you know that the days will get longer, the sun stronger and Spring, yes Spring will really be here in a few weeks. Hard to believe when you see so much ice, snow & cold that there is new life just waiting to spring forward on this frozen desolate scape you see before you. I celebrate by lighting lots of candles in every room and also starting either seeds or cuttings from a houseplant.

IMBOLC
February 1st/2nd (Greater Sabbat)

IMBOLC is a cross-quarter day, midway between the winter solstice (Yule) and
the spring equinox (Ostara). The holiday is a festival of light,
reflecting the lengthening of the day and the hope of spring and is also
known as: Candlemas, Imbolg, Bride's Day, Oimelc, and Brid's Day.

Imbolc was one of the cornerstones of the Celtic calendar. The success of
the new farming season was of great importance and as winter stores of food
were now getting low, Imbolc rituals were performed to harness divine energy
that would ensure a steady supply of food until the harvest six months later
Imbolc is a time of purification, new beginnings, a time for looking to the
future and deciding what you hopes, dreams and ambitions are for the coming
year. It is a time when the first fresh shoots appear, bringing the the
promise of growth.

The day is marked by the lighting of candles, symbolising Imbolc is believed
to have first appeared as a Celtic celebration, honouring Brigid, whose
name means "The Exalted One," queen and mother goddess of many European
tribes. She is also known as Brigid, Bridget, Brighid, Brighde, Brig or
Bride. She is said to have had two sisters: Brigid the Physician and Brigid
the Smith, but it is generally thought that all three were aspects of the
one goddess of poetry, healing, and smithcraft. She was a goddess of
regeneration and abundance, a provider of plenty.

The arrival of Christianity changed the Goddess into the 'Saint Brigid', and
like the goddess of old, Saint Brigid was renowned for her gift of healing.
She wove the first piece of cloth in Ireland and wove into it healing
threads which kept their power for centuries. Many healing wells and springs
were named after her.

Imbolc, is also called Oimealg by the Druids, it is the festival of the
lactating sheep. It is derived from the Gaelic word "oimelc" which means
ewes milk". Herd animals have either given birth to the first offspring of
the year or their wombs are swollen and the milk of life is flowing. It is
the time of Blessing of the seeds and consecration of agricultural tools. It
marks the mid point of the dark half of the year. It is the festival of the
Maiden, from this day to March 21st, it is her season to prepare for growth
and renewal.

Tarot Spread

The Simple Spread

___ ___ ___
|_1_| |_2_| |_3_|

The simplest possible Tarot spread is the drawing and
interpreting of a single card. The simple spread above
goes a little further by employing three cards, and the
meaning of each card is modified according to the
position it occupies in the spread. To prepare the
reading, three cards are selected and dealt in the
order shown. They are then interpreted in turn as
follows:

1. The Past Events or influences from the past that
have affected the present but are now passing away

2. The Present The important events, issues, attitudes
or influences around the question or current situation

3. The Future Future events and fresh influences about
to come into play that will operate in the near future

If a specific question has been asked, then each
position is interpreted in a manner relevant to the
question. Of course, the spread may be varied in any
way the reader sees fit, with greater or fewer cards,
or different attributions to the three positions. The
important thing is that the form and meaning of the
spread are known in advance. For example, the simple
spread could be interpreted as follows if this suited
the reader's purposes and preferences better:

1. The Present The important event, issue, attitude
or influence around the question or current situation

2. Obstacles Current obstacles, problems, conflicts
and opposition that the questioner must deal with

3. The Outcome The eventual outcome of events shown
by the other cards

Tarot Spreads by ADailyTarotYahooGroup

For beginners in tarot readings I'd like to suggest this tarot deck which helps you with the meanings of the cards - as you learn you can then use any deck you wish. To store your tarot deck a simple velvet drawstring bag is nice, Also available at Mystic Rock Boutique is a pentagram drawstring bag for your tarot cards.

Herbs For Every Zodiac Sign

HERBS FOR EVERY SIGN

Herbs can be mixed and combined to produce a
"recipe" that's just right for each of us.
Since the Sun sign you were born under has
such an amazing influence on your health and
well-being, using the herbs that correspond
with that sign alone can be a tremendous help
in times of stress or illness. Here's a short
list of herbs that seem to be tailor-made for
each of the signs, due to their associations
with both the planetary ruler and the positive
qualities of that sign.

Aries - Mars
Allspice, basil, cayenne, garlic, ginger, mustard,
onion, pepper. It's no secret that Aries is the
astrological equivalent of a bullet. It's a
red-hot burst of energy that's capable of
overcoming any obstacle by charging straight
for it. The ruler of Aries is Mars, the "red"
planet, the ancient god of war who was known
for his equally fiery temperament. No wonder,
then, the herbs that correspond with your sign
are also a bit "hot" to the taste. Use them in
cooking to raise your endorphins, the substance
Mars loves best.

Taurus - Venus
Apple, apricot, blackberry, cherry, heather,
hibiscus, raspberry, rose. Taurus is the sign
that's fondest of the pleasures that life inside
these bodies can provide. Whether it's a blazing
sunset, a symphony by Mozart, or a delicious meal,
you folks are experts at enjoying the physical
delights of the senses. It's no surprise that the
herbs you'll enjoy most are the sweet ones, since
your planet, Venus, is the purveyor of sweetness.
Use each of them to satisfy that sweet tooth.

Gemini - Mercury
Clover, eyebright, fennel, lemongrass, lemon
verbena, marjoram, parsley. Your quick-witted,
fleet-footed energy just loves variety - in fact,
the expression "variety is the spice of life"
was written with you in mind. Each of these herbs
provide a different type of taste, and most can
be combined in a light, aromatic tea you can sip
on the run. Use clove or slippery elm to protect
against gossip and to keep your thoughts and
actions grounded.

Cancer - Moon
Aloe, lemon balm, chamomile, mimosa, lavender,
lilac. Nurturing is your business, Cancer, and
you distribute your soothing touch to one and
all. There's nothing you like better than a home
that smells good, too, whether it's because
there's something wonderful simmering on the
stove, a vase of fresh flowers on the dining
room table, or a warm, fragrant bubble bath
waiting for you upstairs. Each of the herbs
listed above are known for their ability to
calm, heal, or bring a wonderful aroma to the
environment. Use aloe to soothe burns and
scrapes and chamomile for a wonderful bedtime
tea.

Leo - Sun
Chicory, cinnamon, goldenseal, rosemary, St.
John's Wort, sandalwood. Your planet is the Sun,
Leo, the source of life and warmth that keeps
us all alive and provides us with the energy
we need to keep pursuing our life's quest. It
makes perfect sense, then, that the bright,
cheerful sunflower would be the perfect
representation of your equally bright and happy
sign. Herbs like goldenseal and St. John's Wort
are tailor-made for you, too, since their
ability to keep the body resistant to illness
and depression are well known. Mix a bit of
chicory with your morning coffee to help remove
any obstacles that come up.

Virgo - Mercury
Caraway, dill, eyebright, horehound, lily of
the valley, marjoram, savory. Your quick-thinking
meticulous sign likes nothing better than a mental
challenge, Virgo, whether it's organizing a pile
of papers at the office, solving a puzzle, or
learning a new skill. The herbs listed above are
all well known for their subtle abilities to
strengthen the mind, and many can be mixed
together in teas to give you a boost you often
need at the end of a long day. The lily of the
valley seems perfect for you, too, with its subtle,
"clean" scent and delicate flowers.

Libra - Venus
Catnip, passion flower, persimmon, rose, sugar
cane, violet. There's no sign as fond of pleasing
others as yours, Libra, whether it's by saying
just the right thing to bring warring factions
together, or by using your polite charm to draw
the object of your desires closer. Of course,
catnip is famous for its effects on our feline
friends, but its also traditionally used in
conjunction with rose petals to bring loving
relationships that last forever. Since you're
ruled by Venus, you're capable of being every
bit as sweet as the sugar cane - but if you
need a bit of help to attract a beloved, use
this potent plant (sugar cane) that's long been
used to conjure love - sweetly.

Scorpio - Pluto/Mars
Ginseng, dill, patchouli, pomegranate, saffron,
vanilla. As fond as you are of intensity and
intimacy, Scorpio, it's no wonder the herbs
you'll love best are famous for their use in
stirring up passion. Drink ginseng tea (or
offer some to your beloved) to induce a
magnetic physical attraction. Wear patchouli
to arouse lust and silently conjure the magic
of the Beltane rituals. Present the object of
your desire with a pomegranate, the fruit
traditionally associated with seductive Pluto,
your ruling planet.

Sagittarius - Jupiter
Anise, clove, fig, hyssop, mugwort, myrtle,
nutmeg, rosemary, sage. There's no sign that
hangs on to youth with more fervency and
determination than yours Sagittarius. To
keep that youthful appearance and disposition
going as you travel the world in search of yet
another experience, drink a tea made of anise,
rosemary, and Vervain. To aid in making your
dreams more prophetic than they already are,
use mugwort. Burn clove incense to attract the
wealth you'll need to pay for your travels.

Capricorn - Saturn
Comfrey, horsetail, mint, poppy, sassafras,
woodruff. You've always been described as a
very "focused" sign, Capricorn, intent on
self-sufficiency and material success. The
influence of your planet, Saturn, gives you
the ambition and self-discipline to attain
those goals, and to ensure success and
prosperity in business matters, too. Each
of the herbs mentioned above are known for
their ability to attract that success, and
most can be mixed together in a tea.

Aquarius - Uranus/Saturn
Anise, bittersweet, citron, dandelion, lemon
verbena, rosemary, sage. Your sign is a
cerebral one, Aquarius, and your ability to
turn "odd" or eccentric ideas into strokes
of genius is well known. Since communication
(and mass communication in particular) is
your specialty, the herbs above are all
associated with the air principle, which
rules the intellectual side of life. To
increase your already powerful intuition,
use citron, clover, or rosemary. Above all
else, listen to that intuition. It will
seldom prove to be wrong.

Pisces - Neptune/Jupiter
Aloe, bay, cotton, eucalyptus, lavender,
Norfolk Island pine, rue. As the most
sensitive and psychic of all signs, Pisces,
yours is the one that requires help to ward
off the adverse thoughts and intentions of
others. Since you have no boundaries to keep
you separate from others, you also need
protection against negative influences. To
that end, use rue, a powerful herb known to
ward off ills of every kind. To stay
positive and healthy keep a lavender plant
growing either outside or inside your home.

A Candle Spell to Sleep

A Candle Spell to Sleep

Get a white candle and light it without a word. Walk counterclockwise
around your bedroom three times. As you do, project simple protective
phrases into the walls, floors, and windows. Next, go clockwise
thrice in silence, meditating on positive, restful phrases. Finally,
blow out the candle, whisper the word "sleep" and turn in for the
night.

This spell does not have to be repeated to continue working. Instead,
simply light the candle for a few minutes each night, then
whisper "sleep" again before getting into bed. When the candle is
completely spent, repeat the original spell with a new taper.
